I just bought a new hard drive and need to be able to move some of my programs over to the new drive. I have an external hard drive that i moved all of my files ONTO and have moved those onto the new drive. However I have programs that I need to move over.

Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions. :-)

Apart from the legal ramifications only programs which are portable (are not installed) can be copied from one disk to another and still work. A program INSTALLER may/will install data in other locations such as the Registry, these entries will not be copied with the program therefore the program will/may not run.

It's always best to re-install software.

Good luck.It depends if they're reliant on the Registry or not. If not then you should be able to move them over, if yes, then no, you'll have to reinstall them.The long way to do it would be to backup everything onto your external HD and (providing there is backup software with it) copy everything back to your new hard drive. Then off course you could download ERUNT, backup the registry, and then copy that over to the new hard drive.
