Solve : Moving Files From Old Drive to a New One? |
|
Answer» I just bought a new hard drive and need to be able to move some of my programs over to the new drive. I have an external hard drive that i moved all of my files ONTO and have moved those onto the new drive. However I have programs that I need to move over. It's always best to re-install software.DLoad the FREE diagnostic utilities from the NEW drive manuf. site... Follow the instructions to create a bootable CD/DVD... Power down and hook up the new drive as a slave... Boot to the CD you created and use the tools to "clone" the old drive to the new drive... Power down. Remove the old drive and connect the new one as master... Remove the CD and boot up. Bingo ! Your old stuff is now booting on the new HDD. After running for a week or so making sure everything works you can then install the old drive as a slave, format it and use it for additional storage... Estimated time: 45 minutes to an hour. |
