I registered for my MS account but when I try to sing in to install some games I keep getting error messages. Then attempted to recover my account by SELECTING forgot password and it said that none of my e-mail addresses matched anything they had on file. I then had an option to enter account name vs the email associated with the account and then they sent me a password reset to an email address of mine that they claimed wasnt on record. I hadn't used my Windows Live account in almost 2 years and feared that they tombstoned inactive accounts, but i was able to get it back.
