Solve : MS Office problem?

Answer»

Hello

I have Windows XP Home and on there I have got Office (Student - Teacher edition) 2003. However recently I have NOTICED that Word has gone from my Start menu. I tries right click> new Word document, and putting that in the Start menu but that does not work.

I also tried uninstalling Office and reinstalling it but that didn't work either

Any help would be welcomed!!You can create a new shortcut for Word in your Start menu by taking the EXACT steps followed hereafter:

1. Start
2. Explorer or My Computer
3. X:\Documents and Settigns
-- Where X:\ is the letter of your Hard Disk Drive
4. User
-- All Users for all users
5. Menu Start
6. Programs
7. Right click
8. New -> Shortcut
9. Press the browse button
10 Search for the Microsoft Office path
-- Most LIKELY located in X:\Program Files
11. Select the MSOffice.exe file.
-- May be named in an alternative manner.
12. Finish the Shortcut wizard

Can't FIND it
Then you will have to search harder as I can not pinpoint to you exactly where it is. You will have to remember the path you have chosen to install Microsoft Office and locate it. From there, you will have to search through the folders until you have located the .exe file you need. The Word executable is named winword.exe

My 2¢ worth. Darren:

To find Microsoft Word, try right-clicking one of the icons for a different MS Office program, like Excel and choose properties.

In Excel Properties, click the Find Target button. This will open the folder where Excel and Word are found. Write down the path and use it next time you browse for Microsoft Word to create a shortcut on your start menu.

Regards,
DocOr, do a search for winword as just sidewinder suggested and write down the path.

I'd suggest paying him more than 2 bits for his good advice.

It's now working - thanks for al the help!!
