Solve : MS Publisher crashes on Save -Help!?

Answer»

Hello -  I'm new to the forum, and looking for help with MS Publisher. Each time I try to save, Pub crashes. I had installed the update, then I tried a clean install, saw somewhere that too many fonts on one's computer could be the problem, so I deleted hundreds of fonts (what a waste of time, that didn't work either). Did not have the Office SP2, so I installed it, then all Office updates, no help there.  I have been combing the web for a solution to this problem, and have found nothing as yet. Does anyone else have an idea for a solution? I really need this program to work!!!!!
Thanks much,
Debi

Have this problem with both 2007 and 2003 versions.
Do you have both versions installed on the same computer?  Are both versions of Publisher part of the full MS Office package?Hello - Thanks for responding, sorry about the lack of info-

OS - XP SP2
Anti virus - AVG
SP2 for Office & Pub security updates - installed as an attempt to fix the problem - didn't work

Had 2003, worked then, upgraded to 2007
Didn't use it for a year (Publisher), when I did attempt to use it, the problem presented - Word works perfectly
Tried a clean install, after removing the upgrade version
Tried a clean install of 2003 after removing the 2007 clean install - 2003 has the same problem
Disabled AVG
Removed hundreds of fonts (including some I needed, by accident... i.e Nokie Brush HMK which I cannot find online
Have no idea what/how many programs I have loaded in the past year...

Have NOT tried Safe Mode - Don't know how

Thanks, Debi

Where do you stand now?  What version of Office is installed?

Is your Office 2007 CD an upgrade version?  If so, how did you do a clean install of Office 2007?I am in the same boat. Used a friend's full V of 2007, which is what's on the computer now.
OK, so you current installation is illegal, since you are not the owner of it.  I would remove it.  Then, I would download and run CCleaner.  To get it, go to http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds and get the Slim version, which is the last version listed there.  Athough you will see a solictation for a donation to CCleaner, it is not required.  After installing CCleaner, run it's Windows scan and delete all the items found.  Then, run it's Registry scan.  After the scan finishes, click the Fix button.  When CCleaner asks whether you want to backup the registry before proceeding, do so.  Then, proceed with FIXING all items.  Repeat the Registry scan, since it may find additional items UPON a second, and even a third, scan.  You do not need to repeat the registry backup at this time.  However, if you use CCleaner in the FUTURE, then do a registry backup again during any session in which you use the Registry scan.

Now, install Office 2007 from your CD, not your friends, so that it's legal.  To do a clean install of Office 2007, you may able to start the installation without having first installed Office 2003 and see whether Office 2007 stops when it has searched for an older version of Office but found none.  I believe it may, at that point (without canceling the installation window), allow you to remove the Office 2007 CD and install your Office 2003 CD just so that Office 2007 can verify you are a qualified owner of an upgrade version of Office 2007.  At least, this procedure for a clean installation from an upgrade CD worked with certain versions of Windows and older versions of Office.  If it does not work with Office 2007, then you'll need install your Office 2003, then install the upgrade to Office 2007.

I can't guarantee this will solve the problem but it is a step I would take to try to resolve this.Thank you, soybean, but this did not solve the problem. Do you have any other ideas?
Thanks so much.Sorry, I'm out of ideas.  Anyone else?Just a reach here...
But what is the capacity and the amount of free space on your drive ? ?
Where are you saving the files to ? ?I am saving to the C drive, 225 gig capacity - 100 gigs free. I lost my Nokie Brush HMK font in this mess, and was amazed to discover I can't find it online - I used it on my website. Anyone have any idea where I can go to get that back? LOL
Thanks, patio.
