Solve : MS Works Wordpad vs MS Word 2010?

Answer»

My OS is WinXP. I have MS Works Wordpad which I use to type letters. This is good enough for me except when I want to print forms which are in Word. I recently downloaded the free 60 day MS Office trial so my niece could do a PowerPoint project.

Thought I could now download some Word forms. However, my computer still uses Wordpad to open the Word documents which gives gibberish. Is there a way that I can make my computer open Word documents using the MS Office Word I now have on my computer? Thanks.Right clik a Word doc and select "open with"....check the box at the bottom.

PS Open Office is Free and 100% Office compatible...Keep in MIND that when you uninstall Office you will probably have to change it back the same way. Thanks Patio. I went into Word and found the document I had saved to my desktop. From there I was able to print it OK. I GUESS the computer was smart enough to SEND the Word document to the right place. Yes, I have Open Office too but have NEVER been able to figure out how to use it to print Word documents.Yipee!! I just figured out, with your help, how to print a Word doc with Open Office.Good news....and Welcome Aboard ! !
