No, the file isn't missing, it's version 7, and I assume that is the latest version? But when I try to install an old 3d program, i get a message that msvcrt.dll file version is incorrect.Run Windows Update...
Let it finish...
Re-boot and retry. Is the program compatible with XP? Quote from: Broni on April 15, 2009, 07:02:13 PM

The program is quite an old one...its name is Metacreations Carrara...at that time XP was not developed. Perhaps it needs some old version of msvcrt.dll, but that might adversely affect recent PROGRAMS. Yeah, you can't play with system files.Try running it in Compatibility Mode...
CREATE a shortcut to the .exe on the Desktop...
Then right clik it and choose run in compatibility mode. Quote from: patio on April 17, 2009, 03:11:11 PM

Will SURELY try this. Gotta get used to XP features! I dunno if compatibility mode feature was available in my earlier OS, windows98. Thanks, mates! Finally I found perfect solution for this problem. It's explained here:
