Solve : My E:\ Drive Disappeared!!!?

Answer»

It happened yesterday... I was trying to put in my CD but the ROM wouldn't open. The computer didn't recognise the drive either. It used to be in the My Computer page but it wasn't there!!! It WORKED before but what happened now??? The laptop I am using is Window Vista... Please Help!!!  Try deleting the upper and lower filters. Don't WORRY that the page says XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116I followed the procedures but when step 5:In the right pane, click UpperFilters. comes I can't find the UpperFilters or the Lowerfilters in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. What am I suppose to do now???If the entry isn't there don't worry about it.
What is new or different since the last time everything worked PROPERLY (IE, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?I haven't noticed something new or different since the last time except that the window media player say to connect a burner and restart the player. But I did try to download games yesterday. No virus I checked... Oh I just went through the report in Microsoft Fix it and the things that failed  to correct is the it wasn't detected....Can you open the drive manually (by pushing the open/close button)? If so, insert a BOOTABLE disk. Then make sure the drive is the first item in the bios boot order. Reboot and see if the system sees the bootable disk at boot. That's the problem... It can open manually and it's not detected on the computer...

Then please do as I asked above.Actually I stated it wrong sorry... The problem is the fact that you CANT open it manually and it's not detected on the computer... Heh  Sounds like either the drive is shot or the power connection to the drive came lose. Open the case and check all connections. Is the drive present in Device Manager?
