Answer» Alright guys, firstly thanks for the help
Okay, my problems started when I USED Comodo firewall to block SVCHOST.EXE . I blocked it because it kept coming up. I soon found out that file was very very important. My solution was to uninstall Comodo firewall. I uninstalled it but SVCHOST.EXE stayed on the blocked list. (hey, least im honest )
So me and my Mom and sister decided to pay 'the dude' (you might of met him XD ) reinstall windows and put our files back on the computer. (internet is blocked no-one knows how to unblock SVCHOST without using internet to re-DOWNLOAD Comodo and unblocking SVCHOST.EXE) I don't have the external to store all of our files so we 'entrust' it to the dude. I mean, he DOES know more about computers than all of us combined and we'll pay him and buy him takeaways.
He says will re-install windows in 3 hours for us. We showed up at his house 3 hours later with Burger King, like we said we would. The dude said he needed more time as the monitor driver was playing up. 4 days later we pick up the computer from the dude.
Okay now what I don't understand is that our speakers aren't working and our printer isn't working. The speakers are plugged into the GREEN port and their power is on (like they should be). And the computer says 'found new hardware HP photosmart C3180" when I plug it into the USB. Here's the thing, the printer and speakers don't work. Device manager says HP photosmart 3100 series and also has 'audio codecs' 'legacy audio drivers' 'legacy video capture devices' 'Media Control Devices' 'Video codecs' I'm a newbie on this forum too. Just my first post, but hope to be helpful.
Firstly, I hope you didn't pay the dude, a hefty amount for reinstalling Windows. And what version of Windows is it?
ANYWAY, I think that he forgot to install the sound drivers, or didn't install them properly. Also, since you took the computer to his house, he probably didn't know that you had an HP printer too.
You see audio codecs' 'legacy audio drivers' 'legacy video capture devices' 'Media Control Devices' 'Video codecs', but this list doesn't contain the sound driver. You can run the following command to see whether the sound driver is installed and what's the name of the sound driver:
Click Start -> Run and type the following command and press the Enter key:
dxdiag
If you can't see the name of the sound driver in the Sound tab, or aren't able to hear the sound by using the ‘Test DirectSound’ button, or you get an error, the problem may be with the sound driver. Reinstall the sound driver.
Do you have the drivers disc that came with your computer? If yes, then you can put that disc into the drive and you'd be presented with a list of drivers you can install. Select the sound driver and click on the install button. You'd need to restart the computer after installing the sound driver.
However, if you don't have the driver disc, and if you know the manufacturer of your sound card (or your motherboard, if you have an integrated sound card), you can search the drivers on the manufacturer's website. Then download and install them.
This post about sound card problems may help you troubleshoot the problem, in case you can't get the sound even after installing the sound driver: http://xpdrivers.com/troubleshooting/the-sound-on-my-computer-is-not-working/
In case, you don't have the driver disc and don't know how to get the sound driver online, here's an easy solution: http://xpdrivers.com/xp-drivers/driver-scanning-tool/
Hope that helps, Regards, xpdrivers

yessssss , the ironyhmmm, got the driver for the printer pretty easily. Although I cant seem to find the driver for the speakers. They say they are creative and on the back it says A30 but I cant seem to find a driver on googleSpeakers don't need a driver to output the audio. They just work off the sound card. Your sound card is the device which needs a driver to work within Windows.
If you read my first post carefully, once again, you'll be able to install or test the sound card driver. I also gave a link to a post about solutions to most sound RELATED problems in Windows. Please visit it and you'll be able to rectify your sound issue.
If need further clarification, feel free to post back.
