Answer» I have a copy of Xandros linux os; my free support account has run out;but,in order to DOWNLOAD the c++ compiler package, you have to have active support. So, if I so much as want to './configure,make,make INSTALL', and such,I naturally get the error message:"could not compile package; no acceptable C compiler installed. It is a catch-22!!!! If I could find a binary form of the compiler package, then I could make-install PACKAGES. PS, I had downloaded the c++, package several times before, on that system, but I am always reinstalling the os's; this time, the timing was bad. Unlike windows/dos, linux is very hinky about installing THINGS that are not in binary form. Thak You--kurt [email protected]Welcome to the CH forums.
