Solve : Need clarification about WIA(Windows Image Aquisition) Service??

Answer» Hi Geeks!

I know that WIA(Windows Image Acquisition) service is associated to my HP All-in-One's Scanner FUNCTIONALITY!

BUT....do I need to keep this Service running "Automatically"? & can't I change its 'Start-up Type' to MANUAL to ensure the "Minimum Resource Hog" on System start-up?

What repercussions one could experience on turning its "Start-up" Type to Manual?

ALSO, few days back, I configured the "Google Updater Service" to run Manually instead of being AUTOMATIC, now the same has rolled back to show "Automatic" as its Start-up type!??.....How come?
[/glow][/i] You can safely SET WIA to manual.
Some services re-set to their default after each bootup.
How are you turning them off/on ? ?Hi Patio!

Iam NOT turning any Service as ON or OFF, in fact, I try to check whether any of these could be set to start 'MANUALLY' instead of being 'Automatic'!

I use "Services.msc" to log in to that Screen>>Extended view>>Click on Start-up Type of a Service>>Change the Start-up type form being Automatic to Manual.

So as per you...WIA can be safely set to Manual & it won't impinge my Scanning process at all??..Right?! Auto MEANS it will run on DEMAND...
Manual means you would need to turn it on before any scanning...
