Solve : need help freeing ports?

Answer»

When i try to run graboid a legal video download program i get an error saying port 11234 and 119 are blocked. I thought it might be my symantec antivirus since that is the only thing that has changed since i GOT my computer refreshed two weeks ago after some maleware. I uninstalled it, added graboid to the windows firewall exception list and opened the ports. Still no luck, any suggestions?Do you have a wireless router or DSL modem with a firewall turned on?

If so, you're GOING to have to open the ports on there as well.its a wireless router Quote from: jello2610 on October 01, 2009, 09:08:15 AM

its a wireless router

You'll have to open the ports on that too then. how? i've had the router before my computer was refreshed and it worked fine.Just open ports 11234 and 119 then reinstall your antivirus (or a new one like Avast!, its FREE and better than norton)i already did both of those things Quote from: patio on October 01, 2009, 04:32:47 PM

yep. Just like PULLING teeth.

You aren't giving us any information. We don't even know what kind of wireless router you have. Also- patio was telling you to open those ports on the router, not on your machine (we already know you did that).

Please PROVIDE more information and stop wasting everyone's time.i have an ethernet cord. I am not sure how to open ports on the cord?! Quote from: jello2610 on October 02, 2009, 08:29:03 AM

Once again, we're talking about opening ports on the router. You said you have a router. Even if the computer is hooked up via ethernet cord to the router, the ports need to be opened on it.
