When i download a dvd i takes me atleast 8 hours to burn the disc, is this normal? It says it's transcoding, is there ne way of increasing this speed in nero, or is there a faster program available for use?What are your system specifications?it is very very slow when it transcodes, Windows XP 1.8ghz processor, 480mb ram i have also d/l all updates and INSTALLED them aswellThat is VERY slow... It should not take over an hour... And that's with a slower computer... Have you scanned for VIRUSES and Spyware? Trojans? Do you have a lot of programs running at startup? What is the MAX speed that your CD Burner can write?

[glb]Flame[/glb]Do you use Nero to burn the files onto DVD or do you only decode with it?yes i have scanned for viruses etc etc and nothing comes up. my burner is capable of writing at 52* but the burning process has no problems only the transcoding side of things, might there be a problem with my videocard. i do have a fair few programs at start up. No i use nero to burn files onto dvd not just decode them.Try disabeling all programs not needed whilst decoding. Perhaps there is a memory hog present.

What is your processor use when decoding?GiDAY......you didn't mention the size of the files you are encoding and burning to DVD with Nero ........
I have found that Nero isnt the best app to use to encode vid files ......if you were to encode a vid file of say 4gbs from say avi to dvd with a app like Main Concept MPEG Encoder it may take several hours to encode it and then use Nero express to burn it to DVD .......the burning process should take perhaps an hour ......... I'm just curious......what kind of a burner do you have that BURNS at 52X ...........usually they burn at maybe 4 or 6X ....... and what kind of DISKS are you using....... I use 4.7 gb DVD-R 8x compatible.

dl65 How do i find the processor use while decoding? What is a memory hog? The size of the files i am burning are aprox. 700mb but when i go to burn them it says about 4.5gig. my dvd burner, burns DVDS on about 4* and my discs are about 4.7 gigGiDAY......Your file size is 700 mg ........in what format ?

Your burner is 4x max write speed ...... ok .....
And the dvds are 4x or are they 1x ?

Do you have another recoder ....so you dont have to use Nero ( it takes too long )

The format is avi. and i use 4* dvd speed. No i dont have any other recoder program.and when its transcoding it plays the movie but it glitches and doesnt play the movie properly it jumps(will not play the movie smoothly)
