Answer» The sound has quit WORKING on this laptop. Can't say when it happened or what caused it. My wife's laptop and she didn't notice.
It is a Toshiba Satellite U305-S5077, OS is Vista Home edition.
Sound Icon on the lower right has a red X beside it.
I have gone into the control panel - Sound - playback --(message) no audio devices are installed.
Went into Bios and set to factory defaults. Nothing.
Went to the Intel website for it to do an updated or driver search, nothing showed up.

I have looked at other posts, they have been similar, but none of the solutions have solved my problem. I have been working off and on this for a couple of days.
Help!!!
I am supposed to take this laptop on the road and can't without the sound.
All laptops should only get replacement drivers from the laptop source... Travel to Toshiba Support and jump thru the hoops...Went to the Toshiba site and then to the forums. Many people with the same problem but no solution that worked for everyone.
I have reinstalled the driver but the computer is still not recognizing that there is a sound card.
I will research Microsoft to see if there is a fix for it in the vista forum. Seems like some people were successful with this approach. Others still waiting for Toshiba to come up with a fix.
Any ideas anyone?
