Solve : no sound expert on games? |
|
Answer» I have a Windows XP system, and I had to search for awhile to find any sort of sound driver for it that works. I finally got SoundMAX. I apparently only get sound in games, but absolutely NOTHING on the internet or windows media player. What can I do to fix it, or what is a better replacement for SoundMAX? my computer cant go on Microsoft.com at all and that's were i was told to download sound drivers.1. Why can't you get on Microsoft.com? 1.i do not know why i cant get on Microsoft.com but i know non of the computers at my house can Sorry, let me rephrase the question. What is the browser doing when you try to go to Microsoft.com? Is there an error message? Are you redirected elsewhere? The inability to access Microsoft.com (as well as many anti-virus sites) can be an indication of a virus on your computer. Are you computers running AV software, and if so what AV software are you using? Quote 2. my uncle who gave me the computer I mean no offense to your uncle, but this advice is wrong. You want to go to the hardware manufacturer's website to get the driver specific to their hardware. Quote 3.i don't know the computer is a hammy down from my uncle and i don't think he still has the box. If that is something i could find out with out the box and just form the computer its self with out opening it i will find out and tell you. We'll need to figure out some model numbers if we're going to be able to find you the right drivers. Look around the outside of the system for a brand name and model number. If you can't find one, it's possible that it's a custom built system. If the case doesn't have a model number, we can try something else first if you'd rather not open the system. Download Speccy. This software is free and safe. Install then run Speccy. Speccy's interface is quite simple. Give it a moment to analyze your system, then it should tell you on the main screen the make and model of your motherboard as well as what audio device is currently enabled. Download these drivers, then install them in this order, restart when noted. 1. Driver - Chipset -- Intel Chipset Support for Windows 2. Restart 3. Driver - Audio -- ADI SoundMax AC97 Integrated Digital Audio Driver 4. Driver - Controller -- Intel USB 2.0 Driver 5. Driver - Display/Monitor & Driver - Graphics: Download the one that matches the graphics adapter in your computer. Speccy should tell you which. 6. Restart This should get most of your hardware working correctly. Optional (install if you need to use network or modem): 1. Driver - Modem -- Lucent 56K Win Modem Driver 2. Driver - Network -- Download the one that matches the network hardware in your computer. Speccy should tell you which. Unnecessary if your network adapter is already working correctly. Oh, and the fact that you can't get on Microsoft.com could indicate a virus. Certain viruses block machines from getting on Microsoft.com and anti-virus websites. But we'll deal with that once the drivers are installed.my computer crashedInfected... It may not be the reason for the crashes but it's probably contributing to it...Quote from: hatedsamari on April 27, 2012, 06:51:59 PM my computer crashed That's very vague. At what point did it crash? What were you doing when it crashed? What exactly did it do when it crashed? Error messages or codes? Is the computer still able to boot into Windows? Simply saying "my computer crashed" doesn't help us DIAGNOSE the problem. As Patio and I have both said, it's likely infected with something.when i was installing Driver - Controller -- Intel USB 2.0 Driver from that one site you gave me. a black vises box CAME up i shut it and then my mouse wouldn't work. i turned my computer off manually then turned it back on. I got the blue screen that told me to start it in safe mode. i tryed to but it would work. Quote from: hatedsamari on April 28, 2012, 07:14:36 PM a black vises box A what? While installing a USB driver, it's normal for the ports to stop working momentarily and any USB device will be disrupted during that time. Shutting it off while in the middle of that could have caused problems. You didn't mention the blue screen before. What exactly did the blue screen say? |
