Well today I'm going to be removing Norton off of one of the computer's in my house using Patio's Removal method and I'm wondering can anything really bad happen by using this procedure and also if anyone has done it with success and some ease.I have removed Norton before, but not with that method. I did use the steps DESCRIBED to clean up later on though when I knew about them. I can't see anything going wrong as LONG as you follow the steps correctly, there's nothing inherently dangerous about it. Quote Also, we keep getting a message from our old Norton 2006 saying it ran out of time, If I use this procedure will it get rid of this? I'm assuming it will because of deleting the registry keys but you never know.Yes, it will get rid of it because Norton will not be present any longer. Hope this helps. BTW, what are you PLANNING on replacing Norton with? Quote from: Calum on June 18, 2007, 01:00:10 PM BTW, what are you planning on replacing Norton with?Avast Home Edition, the free one of course and probably some of the other programs everyone recommends. Recommend me some -MikeDepending what version of Norton it is, you may need to replace other components - if it's an internet security suite, you'll need a replacement firewall, etc. Personally I recommend AVG and a good solid firewall, Comodo is my choice. Free, of course. And don't forget spyware protection and prevention - for me it's Spyware Blaster, Spybot S&D, Adaware 2007, and AVG Anti-Spyware.Could someone post me a link to the program Erunt that is mentioned in Patio's Norton Removal method. Thanks, -Mike Edit: Is this it http://www.majorgeeks.com/download1267.htmlThat's the one. It can be set to backup the reg after each successful boot which can be handy for more than one backup...Well I did the Norton Removal and Im just running the Disk Clean up now, very good tutorial Patio!! -MikeActually I had an other method of witch I thought was a good one. But after following Patio's steps I found out that there was still something left. I must say that I'm impressed. Noticed (again) that I still have to learn a lot! Jonas Thank you for the compliment, jonas. |
