Answer» I wouldn't be posting unless at my wits end* I've read for 2 days now and cannot figure out my dumb problem.... I've tried Isobuster / windows update 4-hardware ie...my dvd hardware.... tried firmware updates at Samsung / installed & tried search & recover /
cannot install any new games on my puter ............ always.........
E:\ setup.exe
Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed [ could that mean my memory is bad? I have run benchmarks and it all looked ok? this old man is too tired anymore fighting this, looking for the easy fix! Your brains !!
ps... my emachine puter can install and run games, what could I put on a thumb drive from that machine and install in my new one to make this go away ?maybe a possible solution with this I found "googling" this morning...will checkout later when I get home.....
" Possible solution: (Worked for me)
I was getting this error with my HPDVD 630i (DVD writer) and HP instructed me to do this....
Go into your device manager->IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. Right click on secondary and choose properties. Go to the advanced settings tab and choose PIO only for "transfer mode". I WOULD ensure that your drive is connected to the secondary controller first though.
I'm not sure why this works, but HP tech support had me try about 5 things and this one finally worked.
HP told me on several occations that they have compatability issues with Nero software. He said 1 and 100 will work with Nero.
Hoppe this helps."^ the above did not help my scenario ? Try Memtest to check your memory. Download it, unzip it, burn it to a CD using the option to burn a disk image or similar. Then boot from the CD and let it run, you'll SOON see if you have any memory issues.
Seems it's a common problem, with many possible solutions. The one you mentioned was one, others I saw from a quick Google search included reinstalling Windows, buying a new drive, and some indicated a virus problem.I am almost 99.9 % sure it has nothing to do with memory (ram).......ran memtest & a few others after getting it all built...no "issues" on the test results....... This is a missing file extension or an issue with these specific drives and or my windows installation...something ALONG those lines.... for a minute I thought I might have 64 bit windows installed but no.... it is something stupid which is creating this problem, the other thing I had been reading is a possible registry issue* I think it might be closer to that but not real sure ~ (goning to try my external Liteon dvd burner 2 nite via USB) and see if they will install with that..........Yeah, give your other drive a try and that will narrow it down at least. Please keep your eyes open on this if you see anything, I was unable to try anything last night, I'm sickPut that DVD drive in your eMachine and install a game with it...if it doesn't work return it for a replacement. A bad firmware upgrade will cause this also.
Not to pick on him personally but the HP tech was way off base...PIO is the slowest file transfer mode of all...not exacrly what you want just to get a piece of hardware to work.as you can see Patio, i got two of these suckers at the egg.... oem
my TOP one installed windows ok, plays cd's but thats about it
I'll try that tonight or tomorrow thanks , I was reading a "few" reviews at the egg on these and a couple guys said your same type thing....they suck*
I did do a firmware update ...maybe that was it, how bout uninstalling the drivers and device,, might that help when I let windows try to recognize on a reboot ?Unfortunately firmware updates are irreversible.
Try the Lite-On brand...i've had great luck with them.10-4 I have their EZ-Dub (lite-on) external from wally world, I'll use that till the replacements come, I'm not sure if I can get a refund ? thanks for your help*I can't believe this.............. ummm I hadn't done the firmware update yet
revised * below
It figures with my luck~ didn't help
