Answer» I installed a new Sony DVD DRIVE for a friend. I set the jumpers to be the master at the end of a ribbon cable and the existing CD rom to Slave in the next connector down. This was suggested by Sony Support ALTHOUGH I didn't think it made any difference which was master or slave. The drive was recognized as a PNP and reads data DVDs with photos on it fine. The problem is that it will not read a purchased movie. It came with some DVD movie viewing software but I have an Interactual Player already installed. It is RUNNING XP w/sp 3 but is about a three year old Dell. I don't remember the model. When I PUT a movie in it opens the player then just freezes. Got any ideas before I hang on the phone with Sony again. ThanksTry a new ribbon (IDE) cable...if it STILL does the same thing return it for a new one.Thanks, Patio, I will give it a shot.
