Answer» I have a spreadsheet in Excel. It has 7 columns.Somehow i managed to displace one of the columns so that now all of the data in that particular column is one place lower in the row than it should be to correspond with the appropriate description for the item in all the other rows. How do i get all the items in that column to be one place up?thank you, truenorthDo you know how to move the content of one cell to a different location by hovering the mouse over the cell border until the DRAGGING the crossed arrows appear and then dragging? Highlight the entire group of cells in that column you mentioned and use the same technique.soybean, Thank you for the reply. I can highlight the COMPLETE column.I do SEE the crossed arrows.I can generate the crossed arrows at the 2 sides of the column and the top. However using the LEFT or right mouse and trying to drag the column does nothing.with the scroll wheel it simply moves everthing in all the rows (in place) up or down.In case it matters there are 875 rows of 12 columns (of which 7 columns are actually used).Maybe i have not understood or applied your suggestion properly. i even deleted the data in that column in the 1st row to make it empty in case data being in it was preventing the upward movement.truenorthWell, here's a another technique. Simply Cut and Paste the entire column. In other words, select that group of cells that's mis-aligned with the other rows, Cut, move your mouse pointer to the uppermost cell in that column where the contents should be placed for proper alignment, and then paste.soybean, Your 2ND suggestion worked LIKE a charm. All the rows in the long column are now in proper placement.Thank you. truenorth |
