Answer» I am currently using Office Communicator 2007 R2.
I have TURNED on the option to SAVE instant MESSAGE conversations in the Outlook Conversation History Folder. The problem is I have to wait for the message to say "message saved" before I can close out the conversation screen. If I close the screen out before I see that message, then nothing is saved.
From time to time I need to shut down my PC or shut down Outlook, I can't do that until I see "the message saved" message or I will lose the conversations.
Is there anyway I can force a message to be saved in the Outlook Conversation History Folder without waiting? No, not easily. But why? Many users leave the computer unattended.
But you could set your PC or laptop to go into hibernation after being inactive for 10 minutes. Amusing it does not take 10 minutes, just walk away from your machine.
Is there a security issue about LEAVING your computer on? There is a option to lock the keyboard while you are away.
That's what I normally do. However, from time to time, Communicator will act up and not automatically save some messages to Outlook. At first I thought I haven't waited LONG enough but after waiting a few hours, I knew it wasn't going to save. This only happened once in awhile so I just ignored the problem.
I just upgraded to 2007 R2 and now the problem is most of the messages are not saved automatically after waiting a few hours. Only a few are saved automatically. I need to somehow get these messages saved.
Any suggestions?
