Solve : online armor issue?

Answer»

Greetings All -
Just wanted to throw this out there - I have 1 xp laptop and 1 win7 desktop networked. Yesterday I found that on the Win7, both I.E. and Firefox could not display any web pages, yet through control PANEL I could see I was connected to the internet. On the xp, I.E. would not work but Firefox was working fine. After several hours of frustration I tried disabling my online armor third party firewall - All is well. Just wondering if anyone has had any related experience/issue.
Cheers !what's the name of that third party firewall, and does it have a default setting

Why reply when you haven't even heard of the software

Anyway back to the topic.

Have you got the latest version of OA running ?? Is it the 'Paid for' or 'Free' version ?? Are there any 'Blocked Events' in the History or logs ??guess you mean, I can't ask then, shame, one would think maybe this was more of an open forum and not so closed minded like so many on-line wanna-be forums.

I'm am not saying 'you can't ask', but your INTIAL post was in context to the OP. You asked a question, followed by advice. If you want to ask about third party firewalls you should start a thread or, more easily, use the search bar at the top right or google. This isn't a 'chat room'. It's a help forum, designed to give specific advice to specific questions. I am so happy ya PUT me in your correct place,
guess I was right, another wanna-be forum, and run by a few children

OutCan a Mod please delete all the posts #5 and onwards. Immature petulance isnt really needed, then we can go back to helping people. reddevilgg - Your reply got me to thinking and I had blocked SOMETHING that I did not recognize a short time before the problem started. Unfortunately I unistalled the program, so I can't go back and see what it was. It was probably my fault. I was just concerened at the time and wanted some reassurance from my friends at CH. I'm sure there is NOTHING wrong with Online Armor - just me (sometimes). Thanks again.Quote from: glathem40 on July 07, 2011, 11:19:09 PM

Sorry for my ignorance, but I don't know what "third party firewall" means.
That said, I ask, "how many firewalls are you using at a given time"?

I have been told by various sources, including knowledgeable users on this forum, that using more than 1 firewall can present problems.

I'm just asking here to learn and maybe help.

Third party software is software which is neither

First party firewall: Microsoft firewall
Second Party firewall: Firewall written by the user
Third party firewall: Firewall written by another provider.
