Solve : OS Requirements for Upgrading from Windows 98 to XP?

Answer»

I meet all of the requirements for upgrading to XP exept one.
It requires 1.5 GB of available hard disc space.
My SYSTEM printout states I have Hard Drive C: 10988MB
What can I do to increase the Free Space?
Bob 10988Mb is APPROX 10.73Gb of spcae... You have more than enough to install XP.

Unless this is your hardc drive capacity?

EDIT: Please don't post your email address in any of your posts Thanks for your reply, this is the hard drive freespace, the totalspace is 13053, am attaching sys. diag. sheet.

[getting space - attachment DELETED by admin]You have plenty of space to upgrade to XP.

You will find quite a slowdown in speed with only
192MB of ram and a 400MHZ CPU.

It should work okay though......only much slower.

I assume you have a socket 370 PPGA processor.

If so the best you could increase to would be 533MHZ
CPU. The SSpecs are---->SL3FZ. See the link below.

Add another 128 stick of RAM and throw Win2K on there and you will have a HAPPY machine...I just upgraded RAM to 512 & ordered DSL high speed, which will bring me out of the dark ages of dial up.
I also am bidding on Windows XP upgrade.
My current processor is Intel Celeron 400MHZ
on my SIMILAR Gateway PC that just crashed, it has a Intel P2 Model5 448MHz processor, would this be worthwhile to swap it into my current PC for faster speed?400 MHz is pretty slow for an XP...
