I just had to do a new install of XP Pro in the course of UPGRADING my hard drive. I then installed Office 2000, which has always worked WELL for me on XP. Now, Outlook starts when I click it, but then after a second or two it winks out. The task manager shows it running, then not. Word and Excel both work fine. I use Outlook all the time and have a lot of contacts and calendar events saved, so I really need to get it to work. Any ideas? Thanks... No error message? I'll try a reinstall or repair install if I don't get any better ideas. It's not a big deal. Just insert the Office CD in the drive and let it start the install routine. It will ask if you want to repair, uninstall, or completely reinstall. CHOOSE RepairI tried it; no helpWell, you can try this - it may or may not work (it won't hurt):

Go to START - RUN and type outlook.exe /resetnavpane (note the space before the forward slash) - then press ENTER. Tried that, got the message, "The command line argument is not valid. Verify the switch you are using."

Also, I uninstalled Office and reinstalled it from the CD. Still the same...Did you remember the space before the forward slash?Yes - I copied and pasted from your post.Okay.
