Solve : Outlook email for 2 diff logons?

Answer»

Hey everyone. Haven't written since I got my new COMPUTER! I have a situation which is more an annoyance than a problem. We have Windows XP and I've set it up where everyone has their own log on. My husband and I are the only ones set up with Outlook email. How can I get Outlook to download email from our server (Comcast) to both our email log ons? Not sure if this is clear. In other words, I log on and open outlook which then gets my emails. My husband logs on (under his own log on)and opens outlook but the email that I retrieved is not in his in box. Is there a way of making outlook place the emails in both our email in boxes?MarleneD.....I understand whats happening , Once whoever logs on first .....receives the Email .

I use outlook EXPRESS .....but this seems to be what you want ......have a read ....

hope this is of some help.

dl65 When you receive emails, the mails are downloaded to your computer. The same time, it removes them from the Server.

So when the second person loggs in, he will not have anything left in the server to download.

You can check this. Next time you ask your husband to login first. He will receive email. After that, you login, you will not.

So the option is - there is a Check box somewhere (it changes depending on the Software you use) which says Remove Message from the Server. if you remove the check against this box, it will remain in the server and the second person will get the mails.

But the problem is emails will pile up in your server and will go above the storage limit unless you go there personally and delete them.

Hope this gives answer to your question

The best way to do this is for one of you open and second account with the other email details and when one of you download the emails it will bring down the both accounts
The option to leave message on server in Outlook 2003 is under Options> E-Mail Accounts > View or change existing accounts > (select your account) change > More SETTINGS > Advanced tab. At the bottom there is a check box "Leave a copy of messages on server. You can also select to have those messages deleted after x number of days.I TRIED what Vertigo suggested and it works! I have Outlook 2002 but it has the same options as 2003. I had to set it up a few times because I kept FORGETTING to select the 'next' button in the window following the setup window for leaving messages on the server.
Thanks all !
