Answer» Please can someone help me, I work for the NHS and I am trying to fix outlook express! Our NHS help desk won't fix the problem and want me to use another program!! (But I like Outlook express!)
I KEEP GETTING the following error message when trying to send an e-mail:
A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: 'IMAPMAIL1.NHS.NET', Server: 'SMTP1.NHS.NET', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC19
This only happens when I try to send messages, I receive them OK!
I have been trying to fix this for over a week now, and I have tried:
Installing SP2 (as advised) Turning off the Virus checker (Sophos) Deleting the account, then putting it back on again Checking all the details are correct (it works perectly well on another computer)
this is all very fustrating as the account used to work perfectly, but it just stopped!
I hope someone can help before I throw the computer out of the window!
thanx Alex

Try the above suggested fix.
Most other sites suggest this is a virus program generated error. I note you have tried turning off your AV protection. Try LEAVING it running and disabling the scanning of emails. Also you could have an email with a large attachment stuck on your server, contact your admin and ask them to empty your emails on the server, and then send yourself a test email. This may be worth a careful reading: How to troubleshoot error messages that you receive when try to send and receive e-mail in Outlook and in Outlook Express
