Solve : PartitionMagic windows 7? |

Answer» Does anyone here know if PartitionMagic 8 is compatible with windows 7, and if it isn't, what program can I use that is? Thanks!!Well, it's not compatible with Vista, so I doubt it. What is it you are trying to accomplish here ? ? I am running windows 7 and want to partition part of the hard drive as storage. Windows 7 is only been beta tested at the moment and I will have to keep reinstalling it. Acronis Disc Director also works with 7, but I've had TROUBLE using it to increase the size of the system partition.Easus FREE Works fine in Win7...Actually I tried to make some changes with Disk Director with no success so I am now doing it with Easus Pro (which I forgot I have) and it seems to be working fine. It's going to be a LENGTHY process (SHRINKING 1 partition, moving 5 partitions, increasing free space on system partition) but I'll report back when it's (hopefully successfully) finished. Oh - and where Acronis said it would need to boot 5 or 6 times during the process, Easus seems to be doing it all in one step!Well, it took less time than I thought - just under an hour. The only minor glitch was that upon rebooting when exiting Easus, Windows went to the boot options screen and suggested BOOTING to the repair options. I passed and told it to do a normal boot, which it did. I'm guessing Windows was confused by the fact some program had interrupted the normal boot process (which of course Easus has to do to manipulate the system partition) in the previous boot. Anyway, everything looks good I recently installed Windows 7 RC on a 250GB HD and failed to plan partitions during installation, so all space was allocated to C. I thought I would just use Windows Shrink Volume feature but it would only let me reduce C to about half the total drive space, apparently due to immovable files Windows placed near the middle of the drive during installation. With EASEUS, I was able to reduce C to a much smaller size. I had not used EASEUS before; looks like an app I'll be using again.Nice of them to offer a FREE version... |
