im getting this message "Windows sockets initilization unsuccessful. close other  applications that access the network and try again, or restart"

whats that MEAN? :-?It means uninstall, reboot and reinstall the software.  i dont think i have the cd cuz it came with my laptopIs this the new Dell?

How do you connect to the internet?If this is the new laptop i'd suggest contacting Dell and ordering an XP CD...looks like you are gonna need it.

SRRY for not reply i was gone all weekend. 18th bday so went to an indain casino(and won 600 bucks) but its a new dell laptop and i think because of the pc-cillin thing its making my laptop take forever and a day to start up i took it out of the start up thing and service thing in MSCONFIG and i ran an disk scan so im hoping that solves the starting up problem, im going to start it up and ill give a rough time frame of how long it took..ok it took 5 mins to go from the log in to the desktop.

what do you think could have caused this othere than it beening on windows?So this is the new laptop ? /
What were your startup times last week fresh outta the box ? ?pc-cillin and the bare basics i didnt get any other software with it..

i just found out that my company gives me pc-cilin internet sercuity for free.

so ill uninstall and reinstall and see if that helpsok i fixed it... i remembered i had norton ghost on the laptop so i just put my laptop back to the way it was out of the box..
