Solve : Pioneer 4200nex car headunit sd card song order?

Answer»

I've posted this on a few car audio forums but have not received a response and since this might be more software based, figured I would try on here. If it is in the wrong group, please move it.

I have a 4200NEX with a 128 GB SDXC formatted to NTFS which the head unit orders the songs alphabetical.

I have the card organized by X:/artist/album/disc#-track#-songname. I use the same FORMAT with itunes, music bee and poweramp on my phone but this 4200 is the only thing that doesn't seem to sort it correctly.

I sent PIONEER a support ticket and they came back with "it does not support SDXC cards" so I tried a 8 GB SDHC (FAT32) card and the same thing happens.

Kinda second question but how do I get album artwork to show up?

Thanks. What does "it doesn't sort it correctly" mean?

What is it doing and what is your expectation? Quote from: BC_Programmer on August 28, 2016, 04:48:59 AM

When playing an album, the songs are sorted by song name alphabetically, not track number.Ah- so it is sorting them correctly, but the issue is that it is not sorting them by file name, but by the Track Title in the MP3 TAG info.

You could use a tool like mp3Tag to change the Title field of all the music files to include the track number. if it plays the tracks alphabetically it should then play them in track order.

It's also possible somewhere in the software/settings there may be an option for what order to sort by.
