Answer» Hi everyone
Friday afternoon I had my laptop stolen. To cut a long story short I got it back today....it had all my work files, photos of my nan before she died last YEAR and everything and they have wiped it all.
Is there any way i can RECOVER anything?
i would be so grateful if someone can help....if there is a way please tell me in laymans terms how to do it.

Jonas hi
thanx, tried recuva...nothing....now trying testdisk. someone on a tv program that i saw ages ago said that in theory nothing is every completely lost on a computer even if you delete it...is this true?? i know that things can GET corrupted and therefore lost...??!!??I wouldn't say nothing is ever lost, but it is incredible what specialists are able to retrieve. But there is only so MUCH you can do at home with software like Recuva. It has a high success rate with files that has been recently deleted but if the deleted files have already been overwritten then the recovery process is much harder. There are companies that specializes in recovering files from hard drives that has been wiped or damaged in some way. But it USUALLY isn't cheap.try downloading undeleteplus.exe and try.http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0-1-0.html?qt=undelete&author=&titlename=&desc=&dlcount=&daysback=&swlink=&gfiletype=&os=&li=49&dlsize=&ca=
link for undelete plusAnil: you could just type: Try Downloading Code: [Select]undeleteplus.exeJust in case you didn't know.
Jonas ok testdisk seems to be working, but all the files are numbers like f123456, is there any way to restore or do i have to go though each file...so far there are 235,000 files found!!You might have to go through your files and manually rename them. It'll be a pain, especially because you'll run into old files you have deleted, but if you're able to actually retrieve everything (or most of it), then that's what's important.
