Answer» I have been having trouble burning CDs on my laptop. I've had this problem for a while now, off and on. I used two different music programs to attempt to burn a cd (windows MEDIA and itunes) and both gave me an error and ejected the blank cd. I know that it is not the CDs because I have been able to burn songs on the cds that I am using. I previously READ somewhere else that it could be that my cd/dvd drive needs to be replaced (it is about 3 years old). I was wondering if this could be the problem or if there was any way to find out what the problem could be. I have HP Pavillion dv4230us laptop with windows XP sp2.any entries in event viewer, application that may give an idea on what the issue is?
(do help on OR google event viewer)
Good LuckDLoad install and run CDBurnerXPro and do a few test burns... It's FREE and will tell US if it is the drive or not.ok i tried to burn a disc and it gave me the following error:
Burning error occurred
An error occured while burning the disc. Most likely the disc is not usable. Usually, these errors happen in the inserted media is not compatible to the drive or of poor quality.
(devWriteError_Generic) Error flushing device cache while closing TRACK. Write Error - Generic. -0x030C00
(I have used these CDs before, most recently was about a week ago, and it worked fine at that time)I would certainly try another brand of media...borrow a blank CD from someone to test...but frankly it sounds like the burner is going South. New dual-layer burners are about 35 Bucks shipped from newegg.com if your in the States.
