Solve : problem with Registry?

Answer»

Hi !

Sorry I have a problem with regidit in the run command when I type the word regedit it says it has been disabled by the administrator yes I did it eccidentaly when I was trying to restore the folder option. so I need your helpWhat OS do you use?
and Is this your computer?

I might be able to help you but i need to know what operating system you have first...you might try to sue the Group policy editor
go to start > run > gpedit.msc then go to the following
User Config\Admin Templates\System\Prevent Access To registry Editing Tools
change this option to:
"Not Configured"
hope it helps;-)Or you set it to Disable.

You will not be able to get access to gpedit.msc on Windows XP Home or Media Edition.Booted into SafeMode and logged in as the admin / changed permissions?

Who told you this?....theres no gpedit at school on the Media Edition computer...That's Media Center and even if it was XP the IT admin probably has gpedit locked down if he's worth 1/2 his salary...Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on May 10, 2007, 04:34:45 PM

Like patio said, the tech most LIKELY has it disabled. Media Center can be used with either Home or Professional (it's not actually another version of Windows). It seems to be more commonly used for Professional, though, which is the case with my version.OK.....but there isn't gpedit in XP Home, i'm 100% sure of that.However...

Windows XP Home does not INCLUDE GPEDIT; XP Home users can apparently run this program if they have access to files from an XP PRO (or possibly Win 2000?) installation, by doing the following:

* Copy the files gpedit.dll and fde.dll from \WINDOWS\System32 on the XP Pro machine to \WINDOWS\System32 on the XP Home machine.
* From a command prompt ISSUE the following commands on the XP Home machine: regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\gpedit.dll

* regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\fde.dll Open the Microsoft Management Console (mmc.exe) and select File->Add/Remove Snap-in... Then click Add. Select the Group Policy snap-in from the list of installed snap ins.
Nice find, patio!Thanx...but all credit goes to Doug.

He da man.I say you get at least some credit for relaying it to us.Cool. Karma now standing at -206.....
