You already have a work around to the problem.
How can we help you?

When you installed windows and Skye before, was it the same inexact machine and the same exact configuration?
In Windows 7, and other modern OS, any change to the hardware and software profile is a whole new landscape. The system is not as modular as you might want it to be.

Are You Having Windows 7 - Skype Problems?
Friday April 16, 2010

A number of readers have commented about problems they're having with getting Skype to work on their Windows 7 machines. Skype, for the uninitiated, is a free service that allows you to make calls, both voice and video, to other computers that also have Skype installed.

I use it all the time to talk to my daughter in college, and love it. I don't have any problems USING either the voice or video functionality in Skype, but other readers have. If that's you, please respond below or email me directly. If there's enough response, I'll contact the company and see if I can find out what's going on.

In the meantime, I highly recommend downloading, installing and using Skype. It's always worked well for me -- and you can't beat free!

So he says it has problems, but does not offer any help!
We can do better!
1. Fully remove Skye. Reboot.
2. Uninstall ALL programs that interact with your sound card.
3 . If you have any hardware conflicts in the system, fix them first.
4. Uninstall and install again your sound card drivers.
5. Download a FRESH copy of the new certified version of Skye. Just the normal install.

My gut felling is that you will not be able to reproduce the same error you had before. Prove me wrong.

Skye in particular has issues. But it is very widely used.
U bless you are strongly motivated, trying to unravel this problem may wear you down. The procedure above is how software testers do this. It is near imposable to repair a defective installation. You have to start over. Sometimes a tester has to try ten TIMES before he can prove there is a defect in the software.Error recovery during a Windows install is not as good as we would LIKE it to be.
