Solve : Problems installing Quicktime 7? |
|
Answer» I have to install Apple QuickTime in ORDER to have Adobe Lightroom working properly. That's the only reason for Quicktime. First, how and where did you get the details of this machine online? Google is a powerful tool for information look ups Quote Ran Belarc Advisor to get the licence key: Microsoft - Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) 00359-OEM-8683316- [I left out the remaining numbers but if you want I can PM the entire licence and key]. Please do not PM this private info. Its likely that the system was sold as a refurb with a Windows 7 Refurb license key. In that case the system should have a license key affixed to the bottom of the laptop or some other location on the laptop for you to know that you have an genuine key. Do you have such a label for Windows 7 product key on it? *I don't need to know the key, this is private. Reason why I questioned what I questioned is because cracked Windows OS have a tendency to give problems like you described, so I just wanted to get past the authentic OS first, then move on to more complex causes. No need to tell me about search engines. I got the impression you were able to get more details on this machine than a normal search would produce. Yes there is a Windows 7 sticker (as well as the old Vista sticker) on the machine. One more detail to add: When I did a search for Quicktime on the computer, the results included two blocklist files, both of which included Quicktime. Both were dated before I got the computer. I deleted both. But that made no difference, I still cannot download Quicktime.I found this from a user having a very similar issue. It appears to be a Firefox bug that affects certain websites when the "Always ask me where to save files" option is selected. This bug was allegedly fixed with Firefox 38 but it may be that there has been a regression. the first link has the user mention they were able to use the "Previous Versions of QuickTime for Mac and Windows" Link to VIEW all versions, and then download the latest version from there, so that may be worth trying as a workaround. That workaround worked. Latest version. Thanks for the link and post. I "like" what the FF link says Quote That's a known problem. It's only known to those who know it. Actually I did a search for this problem before posting here, but I didn't see that post. Now I'm a little angry that Adobe's Lightroom makes me download that 4GB program, QuickTime. Anyone know if I could have downloaded the smaller version to work with Lightroom? From what I understand of Lightroom and it's use of Quicktime (Never used the program myself) is that it warns you at startup when Quicktime isn't installed, but that you only need Quicktime installed if you plan to import/export files in Quicktime formats. |
