hello,
my laptop makes a ticking noise (like SOMETHING was broken from the inside" and then gives me the famous blue screen that says "SYSTEM failed, you have installed a new driver bla bla bla,,,,if that was your first time to have this message....etc" then it fails and shuts down!
do I have to buy a new drive and install it??
P.S: I noticed these symptoms increase especially when I connect my external HD.

What I tried to fix that problem...:
1.did a format
2 changed my "mother board" which cost me 398$
I'm THINKING its a problem with the Hard Drive.

What model laptop is this?

Is it still under warranty?my laptop is LG LS-55
it passed warrinty this year..
was changing the "mother board" a waste!! Unfortunately, I think it was a waste.

Can you confirm the ticking sound is coming from the hard drive?

Has your laptop taken and falls/drops lately?hmmm how do i confirm that thae sound is from the hard drive??
and if U were askin if my laptop have fell to the ground lately! then no, it hasen't fell since i bought it ..!http://bp0.blogger.com/_G2rdNEG2m8U/R5xIv8zj0tI/AAAAAAAAANQ/cr_z6-JrKbE/s320/how_to_install_a_laptop_hard_drive.jpg

We still don't know if it is 100% coming from the Hard Drive. Can you not just put your ear next to it?Or remove the HDD temporarily and go thru the power up sequence...if you hear no ticking then it's the hard drive...Quote from: patio on October 21, 2008, 07:08:45 AM

ok I certainaly cannot do THAT cuz I'm just a biggener and I cannot open up my laptop into peices!!
(u know ofc that the hd I'm talkin about is the laptop's hd not the external one)Either put your ear next to it or you can remove it.

It's not all that hard. For my laptop, two screw and the hard drive can pop right out.ok i changed the ram and the mother board what's next???
i think that it SHOULD be the hd?? right!Quote from: patio on October 21, 2008, 07:08:45 AM
