Answer» Thanks. I have installed AVG 7.5 hopefully more successful than AVG7.1 that let something nasty through and did not find it! I already had AdAware Spybot, CCleaner and have downloaded Ewido (which is now called AVG Anti-Spyware). Still don't know what to do about a decent firewall so am USING Zone Alarm again. There are many different variants of baddies out there that can hit you so don't jump the gun on blaming AVG... This is why we suggest a well rounded protection package in our Knowledge Database. For example any AV program not just AVG is a little WEAK on detecting trojans...which is why Ewido is suggested as it specialises in that variant. But Ewido's strong suit isn't spyware which is why Spybot is suggested etc. etc. etc You get the picture.
patio. 8-)I UNDERSTAND what you are saying Patio, though I did have other security on my computer as well as AVG 7.1. I now have:- AVG 7.5 AVG antispyware Cyber Hawk Spybot Spyware Blaster Spyware Terminator Ad-Aware RemoveIt Win Patrol Zone Alarm
and use Advance Windows Care2 and CCleaner.
All these are checked for updates daily and run daily. I am using Win XP Pro on dial up, but will shortly be switching to broadband. Is there any other security it would be wise to install? Also Zone Alarm installs as stealth in internet zone and MEDIUM in trusted zone. If I put trusted zone up to stealth will it cause problems (for me!)? I have posted that question elswhere and RECIEVED one answer, but would like to be sure.
