Answer» Every time I try to print a particular Publisher file, I get a blue screen with: PCL XL Error; Subsystem: I/O; Error InputReadError; Operator: EndPage. Then my computer automatically RESTARTS. I am desperate for help! I need this every WEEK, and it did not start until my Windows 10 computer updated. Anybody?? I have tried everything. OH - this file will print on my small desk printer, but not on our big printer. That sounds like an upcoming HDD failure to me...
DLoad and run the free diags from the HDD manuf. site....follow the guide to create it on a bootable USB stik.Patio, I have no idea what that means! All hard drive manufacturers have Free diagnostic software for checking the health of the drive...
Find out what brand it is and visit that manuf. site for info...Thank you! I did find the manufacturer (I think) but not knowledgeable enough to proceed. Scared I will make it even worse if I don't know what I'm doing. Thanks for your help!Find someone who knows a bit more about PC's to assist and teach you...
It's not quite as hard as it sounds....
Best of Luck.
BTW run the Long test for brst results. Is it only the one file that is a problem? Everything else prints okay?
It does not sound like a hard drive issue to me. First thing I suggest you try is to roll-back (uninstall) the recent update. I remember several years ago a very similar issue was caused by a Windows Update. To roll back you have two easy methods: 1) Go to Control PANEL - Programs & Features. On the left side click on "View Installed Updates". Find the date of the problematic update and uninstall it or
2) Use System Restore to return to a time prior to the update.Good ideas... However I/O errors generally are caused by hard drives acting up and/or cabling issues. I wouldn't think that printing a file would cause a PC restart...which is what FLAGGED for me.
