Solve : Question about encodding audio.?

Answer»

Hi everyone. I recently purchased an iomega Screen Play Pro HD. It is an external hard drive that can store and play movies and various other file formats. So I have some of my movie files currently on this hard drive but the only catch is that this hard drive does not support 5.1 surround sound...just 2.0 STEREO. So the movie files I have that are encoded in 5.1 audio will not play any sound. I was curious to KNOW if there was any WAY I could take those movie files and convert them back to 2.0 stereo so they would work on my Screen Play Pro?...perhaps some type of software is out there that could do this. Thanks!editQuote from: Allan on February 23, 2010, 10:22:11 AM

Im SORRY but what do I use to edit these video files? No - I'm sorry - I meant that I edited my post Very sorry for the confusion. The real problem here is that you have two medium that need to be synchronized to have a quality output. The audio and the video will need to be properly synchronized. There are programs (software) that will allow you to convert 5.1 surround sound to 2 channel stereo. So you could convert the sound as a separate entity but then you would have to add it to the video and have it synchronized. It would seem to me that unless you want to get into studio creation (there are software programs for that) usually COMPLEX and costly that your best bet is to install a 5.1 surround sound card in your computer and play the discs in your computer.truenorth
