Answer» Looking for a driver that will work with the RealTek RTL8169S chipset which is on a Linksys EG1032 Gigabit NIC. The DOS DRIVERS supplied by both Realtek ( RTEGBND2.119_EXE69 version with the RTGBND.dos driver ) which according to Realtek as being the correct DOS/ NDIS driver for that chipset, fails to load the DOS drivers and my screen from the Norton Ghost 2003 Peer-2-Peer network boot disk looks like this, with a blinking cursor:
Starting PC DOS...
_
When using the Packet driver from Linksys directly off their website as well as off the BUNDLED driver CD, in which I am using the Packet Driver EG1032v3.com for DOS, I get the error message below:
Starting PC DOS...
EG1032v3-DOS-1: The LSL is Not Loaded
( then ghost starts from the boot disk, but there are no network drivers installed, due to the LSL Faliure )
I contacted Realtek and Linksys and their support was extremely worthless!!!! I kept having to remind them that when I was talking about Norton Ghost 2003, that this software runs in a DOS environment. They kept THINKING I was trying to run the adapter in a Server 2003 environment and even after I corrected them, they were still clueless.
So I figured I would post my problem here to see if anyone else has dealt with this problem before with trying to get DOS Network Drivers for Norton Ghost Boot Disks, and might be able to point me in the right direction to getting the NICs to operate under DOS, maybe with a generic driver, or other Realtek driver that has been KNOWN to work between other chipsets.
Thanks,
Dave
