i am using HP Compaq dx2255 pc with windowsXP OS when trying to install SUN SOLARIS or VMwareESXi ( COMES with RHL ) it shows MSCD001 error message and cd drive is unable to detect " C,D drives are detecting and it directly shows commond prompt with DR_DOS..... and windows os is installing properly with this cd drive..... when i checked about the CD drive drivers all are generic from microsoft....

is this cause for not allowing unix flavours..... can't install other OS .....

please throw your view on this.......

How many drive letters are taken up on this machine ? ?three drive letters d:\> was assigned for CD drive...In VMware do you have CD drive set to auto-detect?
If so, using drop-down menu select a real letter for your CD drive.Hello Broni,

i did with new cd today it started installation but after a few seconds it SHOWING the following exception:
