Sorry Double check all your cables for the printer, make sure they are connected and that the printer is turned on. Is the printer a USB printer or parallel?OK so i tried every suggestion that was given and i have to say some WORKED. I am very appreciative of any and all info that was sent to me. But i finally succumbed and called Dell. So to make a long story short, all this time my McAfee Firewall was preventing me from installing the printer. Isn't that what i asked in the first place? Anyway and hour or so later i now have my printer working fine Thanks again for all your help

Double check all your cables for the printer, make sure they are connected and that the printer is turned on.
