Solve : Removing Kodak EasyShare from my computer but keep my photos.?

Answer»

I have the Kodak EasyShare on my computer and all (620) photos are in that program and any time I add a photo to my computer I cannot do so with it being placed in the Kodak program.
I am taking a course at the local community college in Adobe Photoshop Element 5.0. I am unable to download any pictures associated with this program that do not land in Kodak Photo program.
Have tried to get some service to burn me CD's with my photos after they remove them from the Kodak Program or at least burn the CD's so I can DELETE the Kodak program and then upload the CD's on to my PC. To date no one has been willing to do this. Does anyone: know (1) how to get my photos out of Kodak (2) know of a service who would be willing to do this for me at a cost? What version of Windows are you using? I'm not familiar with Kodak EasyShare. Are you sure your pictures are not also in the My Pictures (Win XP) or Pictures (Win Vista) folder? If not, why not just copy them to that folder and then uninstall EasyShare?

Do you have a CD or DVD burner drive in your computer?Let me make sure I understand this...
You want to use Photoshop, but you're having problems because the IMAGE files open in Kodak EasyShare? Is this correct?

If so, you can resolve your problem without having to remove Kodak. Simply right-click on one of the image files and go to Properties. Next to Open with, click on the Change button. This will open the Open With window. Look for Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0, SELECT it, and click OK. Your pictures will now open in Photoshop.

Follow these steps for whatever files you need. You only need to do this once for each filetype (jpg, gif, png, etc).Ugh, my MUM uses that program.

I do believe, the pictures are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Pictures, and a sub folder that is NAMED Kodak or something. (For Windows XP, as far as I know)

If you move all the pictures to a folder on your desktop, you should be able to un-install it without worring about it deleting any pictures when it goes.
