Solve : removing the Getting Started dialogue box in Excel 2010? |
|
Answer» Does anyone know how to remove the Getting started dialogue BOX in Excel 2010. It's on the right of the spreadsheet and takes up far too much room especially when you need more than one window open at the same time. Tools | Options | ViewThat reference is for Excel 2003, which has the older menu bar. Excel 2010 has the ribbon design, not the menu bar. So, your reference will not help with Excel 2010. That's great but do you know the way it's done in 2010?Nope. I have Excel 2007 and I suspect it and Excel 2010 may work the same in this regard. But, I don't even recall ever seeing a Getting Started dialogue box in Excel 2007, and I just went through the installation of it with a computer I bought about two months ago. Do you ALSO see a Getting Started dialogue box in Word or other Office 2010 programs? File --> Options --> uncheck "Show the Start screen when this application starts". Does that change anything?Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on April 19, 2013, 03:34:46 PM File --> Options --> uncheck "Show the Start screen when this application starts".Here again, this applies to Excel 2003 and older versions, but not to Excel 2010. Starting with Excel 2007, the File --> Options -->... no longer exists. Quote from: soybean on April 19, 2013, 04:24:53 PM Here again, this applies to Excel 2003 and older versions, but not to Excel 2010. Starting with Excel 2007, the File --> Options -->... no longer exists. This applies to both 2010 and 2013, as well as older versions. In Office 2013, the FILE tab exists. In Office 2010, the tab ALSO exists, it's just not called 'file'. It's the BUTTON to the left of 'Home' Quote from: Carbon Dudeoxide on April 19, 2013, 04:40:03 PM This applies to both 2010 and 2013, as well as older versions.Well, I found evidence that it does, indeed, APPLY to 2010 and 2013. But, Excel 2007, which I have, does not have a File tab. So, your solution should work since he has Excel 2010. Sorry about posting wrong version info ... followed a Google hit on Excel 2010 and saw solution, but looking back at the entirety of the link I now see Quote Does anyone know how to permanently remove the annoying "Getting Google Search FAIL ok, sorry for the delay. There is a File Tab and options but no "Show the Start screen when this application starts" to check. I have just found out that the version I am using is Starter but this can't be the reason for not being able to disable it, surely !Not in the Starter Edition...wish we woulda known that...sorry ! So there is no way it can be removed from the started edition, that's ridiculous ! There must be a solution.... Anyone ?Found This... |
