Solve : Retrieving Outlook information?

Answer»

Hi

I have a problem - can anyone advise.

My computer died last week. I now have a new ONE. The hard drive is fine and is now operational VIA an enclosure, and most of the USEFUL material has been transferred.

However, I can't seem to access any of the emails, contacts betc which were there before when I used Outlook as my main email client. Is there any way of doing this? Please note, I'm not especially technically-wizardish

Thanks

Mike
With your old computer, did you ever export your Outlook data? Can you find any .pst files on that hard drive?Hi. I can't seem to find any via searching the drive. No, I don't recall exporting any Outlook files.I spoke too soon - I have found them (they were hidden). They are Outlook 2002 files. I have installed Outlook 2007 on the new computer.
Any advice?Take a look in Outlook's HELP. Look for "File types you can import or export" or SOMETHING similar. In Outlook 2003, Help says I can import .pst files from Outlook 97-2002. Surely, Outlook 2007 will allow you to import .pst data from earlier versions. Phew...its finally done, and all have now been transferred to Windows Mail!
