Solve : Scanner can't be removed from computer?

Answer»

My computer has a scanner installed in the control panel that I do not have or ever did.
It shows Xerox workcentre pro scanner.  It is primary to the extent that after doing a long fix
from Canon for my all-in-one, it kicks it out after a few days and have to do the fix again.
I cannot remove this Xerox item and I am no computer novice.  Xerox has not responded
to my request for help.  Canon says they can go no further then what they have, which I think
has always been outstanding tech support for free. Quote from: Charlie361 on JULY 26, 2010, 11:31:42 AM

Exactly how did you try to remove it?  Is a program for it shown on your Programs menu?  Is is listed in your Add or Remove Programs list (in Control Panel)? It is in the control panel under scanners  and nothing will remove it so far.Opps.   It is not in the add or remove listings ,  but the canon is .    Quote from: soybean on July 26, 2010, 11:36:58 AM

Trying in control panel under scanners and it cannot be moved or removed.
My canon cannot be moved or removed either and nothing that has been PLACED in scanners apparently can ever be moved or replace.  Xerox shows no where else any where on the computer... Quote from: soybean on July 26, 2010, 11:36:58 AM

Still not answered.     Are using an ax, shop vac, leaf blower, micro-bulldozer to shove it off the screen, or what?THANKS for help in this and I have gone to remove all I can and reinstall my canon.  Should it happen again I will type up in detail exactly what I did to fix it and put that on this site.

Easyier right now then trying to remember all I have or have not done.

Good on you for HELPING folks like me.

Bye..

I like Soybeans approach and Humor.....   BTW Welcome Aboard and keep us posted Charlie... !The dirty  Xerox scanner is still there and had to reinstall CANNON driver again to get it to work until the next time Xerox kicks it out.  I do remember once seeing some oriental characters wheile messing around trying to get rid of it.  Maybe I was on a Chicom controlled site once and they have a powerfull bug in my computer that cannot be removed and don't know why they would do it.  Could they know I was CIA in my career?  I do some heavy e-mailing with folks formerly in the Intelligency community.
This all sounds like a hoax by me,  but all very real unfortunately....
