Solve : Send-To menu? |
|
Answer» What could cause "send to" to get agonizingly slow for the last 30 seconds. Yeah, pretty much the same questions - it's difficult to understand precisely what you are asking. Am trying to send a movie from hard disk to a USB device. BacaPossible reasons: Windows uses a background service for file copying - for a copy to another device or OS it uses a temp file. You will see a slowdown at the end of a copy, especially with a larger file, because the file is being closed and the temp file erased. However if you have recently noticed this slowdown, source or destination file systems could be fragmented, the USB device could be nearly full, or getting old (flash memory reaching write cycle limit). Quote from: Bacahachi on October 18, 2015, 11:17:48 AM Am trying to send a movie from hard disk to a USB device.Any large file transfer to a USB flash drive may have problems. 1. The USB device needs to have a NTFS format. 2. Most flash drives have a very slow transfer rate. Been doing this for years with no problem. It started within the last two weeks. The USB device has been formatted to NTSF. Always before it TRANSFERRED pretty rapidly and ended with no slow down. I had installed no new programs just before it happened. Have done virus/malware scans with no results. Have reinstalled the SendTo program. Still no results. Baca 1. Is it a flash memory device, or a spinning hard drive? 2. If it is a flash memory device, has it been used many times? 3. Has it got much free space? 4. Have you tried a different device? 5. Quote Have reinstalled the SendTo program. The Send To menu is part of Windows and is not a separate program, so how did you do this exactly? Are we TALKING about SOMETHING else? 6. Have you checked the source device (hard drive) and destination device (USB device) for errors and fragmentation? 1. Flash memory drive. 2.No....almost brand new. 3. 32 Gig. 4. Tried to send to a W/D backup drive and to another partition on my hard drive. Same results. 5. Third party "send to" program; SEND TO TOYS. Didn't know win7 had such a thing. 6. Yes to both. Is it this? Send To Toys 2.71 Quote from: Bacahachi on October 18, 2015, 01:23:49 PM Third party "send to" program; SEND TO TOYS. Didn't know win7 had such a thing. All Windows going back to 95 have had a "Send To" option in the context menu seen when you right-click on an item in Windows Explorer. Send To Toys merely enhances that. Moved this over here... Please don't POST in the FAQ section.Tried that and it worked. Thanks ! Baca P.S. How did we get switched to the FAQ section - just for future ref. I just joined this site.
