Solve : Service pack 3 for MS office 2002 results in errors?

Answer»

Hi!

I have TWO rather weird errors in office 2002 (package including frontpage).

I've recently been unsuccesfull in downloading and installing MS office 2002 service pack 3 from windows update: it asks for my CD which I can't find. I THEREFORE click cancel and the installation fails. This problem might be RELATED to the two errors/bugs:

The first is in Outlook: it show me my e-mails in the inbox as blank lines. Clicking on a blank line opens an e-mail correctly.

The second is in Excel: when I start Excel, it starts "configuring microsoft excel office XP professional with frontpage" and then asks for a CD.

I've looked around but can't find any help online. Who knows what to do?

Thanks,
JorisYou really need to get that CD, either buy a new/used on on ebay or borrow one from a friend to satisfy the service packs requirements. There will be no legal option on the web to get around this CD requirement which is usually an antipiracy feature! Thanks for the reply! Time to start looking for that CD.Quote from: DaveLembke on August 06, 2011, 04:03:46 PM

To install SP3 without the original Office XP CD

When installing SP3, you may be prompted to insert one or more of your original Office XP CD-ROMs. If you do not have access to your original Office XP CD-ROM you can install Office XP SP3 Full File Version (58925 KB). Follow the instructions on the screen to complete installation. Note: Some users will still be prompted for the original CD when using the Office XP SP3 Full File Version, depending on your installation of Office XP. For more information, please see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article, (828451) OFFXP: Why Service Packs, UPDATES, and Security PATCHES May Require the Office XP CD-ROM.

Also read the Knowledge Base article referred to above (KB828451)

Thanks Salmon. I've read the information and tried the installation of the "Full File Version", both standard and the version in Dutch. It results in a message "The expected version of the product was not found on your system."

But it really is. I wouldn't mind so much, were it not that I have these two rather weird errors to worry about.

Does anyone have additional tips?
