Answer» Ok, I was doing my usual Spyware scan and waited for 4 hours for it to finish as there are nearly 600000 files on my computer. I cannot understand why I have so many as the computer is less than 9 months old. My friend only has 150000 files and he has had his computer for over 3 years I often do a disk cleanup and I always delete old files, pictures, music etc when I have no need for it. My operating system is Vista. I really need to reduce the amount of files on my computer as I can't be waiting 4 hours everytime I want to do a scan. Any suggestions? Does anybody else have an excessive amount of files on their computer? Thanks.what program did you use for a disc claen up? Or every other week. We use it in malware removal alot because it removes all of the temp, prefetch, java files that may be malicious. Some of those files windows calls on to run quicker. CCleaner SPECIALIZES in not removing too much which is why it is so widely used/recommended. CCleaner can be used multiple times a day safely.I use it every few weeks but I only have a few of the boxes checked. I use the registry and I just get rid of temp files.Another good one is CleanUp!.exe. It doesn't CLEAN as much as ATF Cleaner but is still very powerful and has some extra settings in it.
