Solve : Some suggestions about streaming radios?

Answer»

New here and I was hoping someone might give me some SUGGESTIONS about an app.I am looking for something that works for recording music from internet radio stations, if that is possible. There are a lot of these stations and it's a bummer not being able to LISTEN to them when I'm not near my pc. I was thinking that there's a way I could listen to their shows on my mp3 player. You may want to have a look at Audacity:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

It will allow you to record the audio from the radio station. Oh great, so this works.I'm also curious how exactly does it record the streaming radio. I was rather thinking about something that is easy to use, first of allYou press Record and it records whatever is being played in your computer.

hmm, that would mean that I'd have to pretty much do nothing on the pc while that thing is running?Just open the program, hit Record, and it will record whatever SOUND is played in the computer.Ok, I'm gonna give it a spin. Also googled a bit and found some reviews

I guess they MUST have tested those apps, so I was thinking of taking a look at one of those also.Tried one from those mentioned in that review, that radiotracker app; does a good job and it just records the station you want not everything that comes through your soundcard. As for the rest of them dunno. Can this one be programmed to start recording or something like that?Something to bear in mind: assume the radio is streaming at 128kbps (fairly standard). Leave this running for EIGHT hours and you'll have recorded 450MB of (uncompressed) audio. Better to grab the compressed stream instead (with something like Orbit Downloader).

And before anyone jumps on me, yes the maths is correct. I've just started using Radio Sure....haven't tried the recording part , but it works flawlessly as a player.
