Solve : SP2 Firewall Issue?

Answer»

Now I am confused Flame :-?
How about clearly telling us what you have, what you want & what the problem is?

Until now, I thought you had a file you couldn't download because of your xp firewall that you couldn't turn off. None of that makes much sense to me.Flame Cant turn off his firewall
Have you try my Method yet?
Did it work?

Have you try uninstalling the firewall program and switching the firewall using
FED Method
http://www.utmem.edu/helpdesk/sp2/sp2firewall.htmOk, Verizon has me downloading a file, which will use the Ineternet to change a few things. You MUST have all firewalls disabled to download it properly... Same with video drivers... Firewalls must be disabled for all files to be downloaded and configured properly. Now, I've turned Zone Alarm off, but the Windows Firewall refuses to turn off.

I have never heard of this. are you talking about from Windows Update or elsewhere?I have never had to turn off my firewall to download a file.Actaully, the word firewall was a typo in that case, Anti-Virus should have been the word in that sentence. http://www.nvidia.com/object/driver_installation_hints.html Tells you to turn off the anti-virus. For some reason (probably because it's opening and closing portals, etc. mine wants the firewall off. It's a similar issue)

Flame"Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly."
No mention of downloading there Flame.Doesn't matter, it's just a similar situation to some extent. I don't know if the problem comes when downloading or installing. Verizon just said they thought it was downloading, so I put that in the message. It could be either... We seem sure that it's the Windows Firewall that is causing this issue however. Do we have any ideas on how to disable it?

FlameGreat, now I've got TWO computers on the fritz... The one I use now won't turn off, but yet my old computer says that the security center is not activated or something, so that one has a problem too lol

FlameAfter futher investigation, Norton's Internet Worm protection was seen as a firewall for the Security Center. After disabling it, the status showed the correct INFORMATION. However, even with these programs disabled, the file still goes on error. I'll contact Verizon I guess. THANKS to all that helped

FlameWhat & where is this file you can't download, I'll give it a try.I wish it was that easy Fed. You would not be able to download the file unless you are a Verizon customer with a username and password however.

FlameNo WORRIES, just give us your username & password.
On a serious note, what is this file?
Are you on the job?The file is like Flash, but it will install yahoo on it somehow. I'm going to call Verizon tomorrow. I'll post back.
