Answer» Hi
My neighbor installed OpenOffice from Oracle on my computer
Does anyone have any experience with the OpenOffice.org PROGRAM?
I have two questions when I opened the spreadsheet program I noticed it did not have the “AutoSum” key for spread sheets like Excel has. However it does have the Auto Sum key on the tool bar at the bottom of the page it but will only show the total on the bottom but will not place the total on the spread sheet
The other question is it appears once the spreadsheet program is opened it must be closed before another program can be opened such as Text Document.
Is there a solution to these two problems ?
I have WindowsXP Professional
Thank YouIn OpenOffice, the "Sum" button looks like this: "Σ". To use it, select the cell you want the sum to be displayed in and click the Σ (sum) button. OpenOffice will automatically select all the cell above the one you selected. Press enter to use this selection or drag the edge of the selection box to change the selection. After you have pressed enter, the sum will appear in the cell.
To create a NEW document from the spreadsheet program, go to "File" in the menu bar, POINT at "New", and choose the type of document you want to create. If you want to open an existing document, go to "File" and then "Open". In either case, you will have both the spreadsheet program and the document program open at the same time.Quote In OpenOffice, the "Sum" button looks like this: "Σ". It's really not much different from Excel. Both have the Σ symbol. In Excel, double clicking on Σ enters the sum. In OpenOffice Calc, you need to click on Σ and then hit the Enter key, as Kip said.

There are other ways besides what Kip said. One is just to go to the Programs menu, go to OpenOffice and select the component you wish to open. Or, you could place a SHORTCUT to Calc, Writer, etc. on your QuickLaunch toolbar and/or your desktop and open multiple OpenOffice components that way.
