Solve : Startup - Are these things worth slowing my boot time?? |
|
Answer» Hi, I'm the victim of a slow startup for my file on my computer. I was wondering if someone could help me out with discovering what these cryptic names mean and if i could uncheck them from run*msconfig*startup. I really only want to run my antivirus and firewall and printer. Let me know if you know what any of these things are and if they are safe to disable for startup: you need ctfmon.exe if you use different languages in MS Office eg English and Spanish. You will also find it difficult to remove from startup if you want to remove it, if you decide you want to get rid of it post again and I'll tell you how. jusched can be removed from startup by going to Control Panel - Java - Update - Uncheck the box about checking for updates and tell the warning box not to enable updates. You will need to check for Java updates yourself if you do this, do keep on top of it because outdated Java can be dangerous. Speaking of which, your current Java is out of date, the newest is 1.6.0.2(updated) - make getting this a priority.Don't overlook certain maintenance procedures that can help keep your system optimized and performing at it's best, including startup time. This includes spyware cleaning, disk cleanup (get the Slim version of CCleaner), disk defragmenation, etc.run msconfig and go to startup TAB then click disable all. reboot your computer. good luckQuote from: xpart on August 29, 2007, 07:44:07 AM run msconfig and go to startup tab then click disable all.nono, I don't think that's right. Don't you need some of those startup items for the computer to act normally?Yeah, xpart gave bad advice. "... disable all", absurd. You can disable them all but you will lose your AV, AS, Firewall etc. After a re-boot re-enable them one at a time and see if there is any single thing slowing your boot time up. Disabling them won't STOP your computer from running. |
